YMCA sheds old bulletin boards for easy-to-use digital signage

01Overview

The YMCA of the North Shore is comprised of seven local YMCAs serving 45,000 members in 25 communities north of Boston and into Southern New Hampshire. For more than 150 years, the Y has been a vital resource to individuals, children and families regardless of their ability to pay.

Committed to meeting the needs of the communities the YMCA of the North Shore serves through essential programming in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

02Challenge

A primary challenge for the YMCA of the North Shore has been improving member awareness regarding schedules, special events and other notifications. Having content readily available and displayed effectively within the YMCA’s expansive facilities was difficult.

The YMCA was looking for a better way to present, manage, and control messages dynamically to avoid missed communication opportunities and eliminate cluttered bulletin boards.

03Solution

Skykit allows YMCA’s marketing team and other team members to manage their content through templates. Now it’s easy to import a variety of content sources like presentations, PDFs, videos, and screen feeds. Their marketing team is able to control signage from any device. Display screens are found in multiple locations throughout the Y, like the fitness centers, main lobby’s, and walls outside the gymnasium and early education centers.

The content varies from special events, exercise class schedules, promotional videos, and announcements. You can split the screen’s display into sections and display different content in each section. This helps the Y to display as much information as possible without viewers needing to stay focused on the screen and rotate through the information.

The YMCA bought their first display in early 2016 and quickly added 5 more screens before the end of the first quarter, additional screens have been added to the network throughout the year to meet the programming and content needs of the YMCA.

Looking to the future, the YMCA is planning to implement screens that offer focused solutions while expanding their network into their additional locations within its association.
